48.4 miles. 3 bridges. 3 big hills. 19 stops at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh locations.
Board Chair Lou Testoni kept his promise and, with the support of 18 cyclists, completed
a 48.4-mile bike ride on Saturday, October 1 that stopped at all 19 Carnegie Library of
Pittsburgh locations. With your help, the Cycle for CLP group raised more than $20,000
during the month of September in support of the Our Library, Our Future voter initiative.
The cyclists were met at every location by staff, friends and supporters - waving and
cheering as the riders went by.
10,739 petition signatures.
Although only 2,769 signatures were needed to put the Our Library, Our Future referendum
on the November ballot, volunteers handed Council President Darlene Harris more than triple the amount from city voters, demonstrating the broad support and momentum behind the initiative.
350 rally flags.
During the month of October, hundreds of colorful banners painstakingly crafted and decorated by library customers stretched across the Gallery @ Main to remind voters
just how important the Library is to our community.
1440 minutes! 144 library readers!
Local celebrities and customers read aloud from their favorite books for 24 straight
hours outside CLP - Main to show their support for Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh
during October's Read to the People: 1440 @ 4400.
