East Liberty

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - East Liberty In 2005, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) celebrated 100 years of service to the East Liberty community. Located on South Whitfield Street, the Library's two-level building houses more than 80,000 titles, as well as a PC Center that offers customers free computer classes and open work time. More than 60 groups a month use the library's meeting rooms making CLP - East Liberty one of the busiest libraries in Pittsburgh.
Under CLP's Capital Campaign, Libraries for LIFE, the Library has made initial plans to renovate the existing East Liberty location. While designs are still in the development phase, project architect EDGEstudio has been commissioned to create an exciting space that will provide greater library resources for the community. Community input is needed as the project moves forward. All community members, business owners and community leaders are invited to participate in the renovation planning process. Announcements of future meetings will be posted on the Library's website, www.carnegielibrary.org.
To date, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh has renovated or relocated six neighborhood libraries, and the first floor of the Main Library in Oakland has been renovated. The visibility of the completed renovations has brought new vitality, with all locations benefiting from increased visitor and circulation numbers.
