For Immediate Release

(PITTSBURGH, PA- July 3, 2006)Pittsburghers can don their wizard hats and hop on their broomsticks for a magical performance by punk rock band “Harry and the Potters.” The band will be joined by opening act “Draco and the Malfoys” at a free outdoor concert at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh – Main, on Thursday, July 6 at 6 p.m. The all-ages show combines punk rock with the beloved lore of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. The show promises entertainment for the entire family; guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite Harry Potter character.

Formed in 2002 by two Boston brothers, Joe and Paul DeGeorge, the band combines their love of musical experimentation with one of today’s most popular literary sensations to help encourage excitement about reading. “Harry and the Potters” have toured internationally, including Harry Potter’s home country, England, playing in libraries and bookstores. The group’s surprising success has been documented by MTV and Forbes Magazine.

Songs such as “Voldemort Can’t Stop the Rock,” “Dumbledore,” and “Hermione’s Wrath” show that the band is strongly committed to its literary roots. Fans of the book series will appreciate seeing the garage band that Harry Potter would love to join if he wasn’t too busy saving the world from Voldemort. And music fans will appreciate hearing a fresh new sound dealing with a novel topic
