Dish: A Foodie Book Club

This quarterly book group focuses on the world of food. Whether you want to discuss the politics of food, food and health, the history of food, food and the senses, food manufacturing and advertising or anything else food related, bring your ideas, questions, cares and concerns to the table.

We’ve chosen the first book (which we’re very excited about), but we want the group to help determine Dish’s direction. So at our first meeting, in addition to discussing The Omnivore's Dilemma, we will present a selection of appetizing book choices for subsequent discussions and ask for input.

Discussions are held quarterly on Tuesdays and meet from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Director's Conference Room on the First Floor of the Main Library. No registration is necessary.

The Lost Ravioli Recipes of Hoboken: A Search for Food and Family

Her sorrows are affecting, her successes triumphant. She also shares recipes, so you can delve into the mysteries of ravioli.

  • Barbara Kingsolvers's
Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life
The Kingsolver clan vowed to eat home grown, or at least locally grown, food for one entire year. This is their account, a well-paced narrative that is both memoir and journalistic investigation, with a generous helping of recipes.
