Recruiting & Retaining Diverse Volunteers

This class will help you get on target to recruit diverse volunteers more efficiently and effectively. It will strengthen your focus on the needs of your volunteer program. Topics to be discussed include:

* Program assessment
* The value of a volunteer
* 6 rules to recruiting the right volunteer
* Interviewing techniques
* Strategies to motivate and retain valuable volunteers

The speaker will be Rebecca Maletto-Cornell, Director for the Foster Grandparent Program of Southwestern Pennsylvania. In her position, Rebecca manages over 225 senior volunteers and 130 stations in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene and Washington Counties. She currently serves on the executive board and is a past president of the Volunteer Administrators of Southwestern PA (VASP). Rebecca also serves as the Atlantic Regional Cluster Representative and Treasurer of the National Association of Foster Grandparent Program Directors and the Mentoring Chair for the Senior Corps of PA Directors’ Association. During her tenure as president of VASP, Rebecca won the 2010 Evie Award for the "Most Outstanding Volunteer Administrator." She has also taught for the Nonprofit Academy's Institute of Volunteerism through Community College of Allegheny County.

The fee to attend this workshop is $20 per person, which includes a light continental breakfast. It can be paid at the door with either cash or a check made payable to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. To register, please call the Nonprofit Resource Center at 412-622-6277.
