Using Twitter to Fundraise & Engage (FULL)

Wednesday, October 8, 2014
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Twitter is a very effective means of getting the word out fast to lots of people at a time, and it rightfully prides itself on the good it can accomplish. In this class, we will look at how nonprofits can harness the power of this social media tool in order to boost their fundraising goals and increase their capacity to attract and engage followers.

Attendees will learn:

• How Twitter works and how to set up and maintain an account
• How nonprofits can utilize all of Twitter’s functionality and not just broadcast
• How other nonprofits have been successful in fundraising with Twitter
• The basics of digital storytelling and how to do that online with just 140 characters
• The growth of audience generated content and how it impacts how you program for Twitter and other social media and more!

This training is appropriate for beginners as well as those with some “Tweeting” experience. Participants are urged to bring their own laptops or tablets.

The speaker will be Christopher Whitlatch. Christopher has nearly twenty years of marketing and communications experience and is recognized nationally for his digital media success. He is currently the Director of Communications at The Pittsburgh Foundation. Christopher is the marketer behind the Pittsburgh Gives campaign that has raised more than $30 million dollars and has become a national model for nonprofit organizations, inspiring the Give Local Day.

Christopher serves on the Board of Trustees for City Theatre and the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP). He has a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from New York University.

This class is now full and no more registration is being taken at this time.
