Young Salvatore discovers his love for film early and spends every free moment at the local moviehouse, the Cinema Paradiso, where he develops a close friendship with the projectionist Alfredo. Eventually, Salvatore leaves his home and becomes a filmmaker, until one fateful day he returns to town.
