Make Your IRS 990 Work For You!

Monday, June 18, 2012
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Are you adequately using your most public marketing tool?

Every non-profit organization must file IRS Form 990. Intended as a basic tax return, it immediately transforms to a marketing piece when posted to Guidestar (www.guidestar.org). 990s may be time consuming to complete, but they also provide an additional way to demonstrate your organization’s accomplishments and responsible stewardship of public dollars. It is an opportunity to show the public the most complete picture of the organization’s financial history and reflects the actions and decisions of an organization.

Focusing primarily on Program Service Accomplishments (990 Part III) and the Statement of Functional Expenses (990 Part IX), this interactive session will also cover other sections of the 990 that receive the most scrutiny from the media and donors.

The speaker for this workshop will be Janet C. Emery, CFRE. Janet is president of J. Emery Consulting, Inc. She works with a wide range of clients, helping these nonprofits enhance their sustainability through wise and ethical development practices. Janet partners with her clients to find customized answers to their development questions. Janet is also a trained and approved consultant for the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations’ Standards for Excellence® Program.

The fee to attend this program is $20 per person, which includes a light continental breakfast, and can be paid at the door. Space is limited and registration is required by calling the Foundation Center at 412-622-6277.
