Join CCAC's Jeanne Bergad to discuss The Reader , by Bernhard Schlink. Schlink’s 1996 book is the first German novel to top the New York Times Bestseller list. It follows three distinct time periods in the lives of two people who engage in an unlikely affair: a 15-year old boy and a former SS guard. The 2008 film, directed by Stephen Daldry, snagged a best actress Oscar for Kate Winslet in the role of the former guard, Hanna Schmidt.
