In 1938 it was reported that 30 Negro National League
games and 20 sandlot
or semi-professional games of baseball were presented at Greenlee Field.
The average attendance at the professional games was 700, admission prices
ranging from 25 to 60 cents. (20)
Based on a National Urban League survey done on The Hill in 1930, the average weekly wage of 104 black, male laborers on The Hill was $28.20. (21)
So, in rough terms, a ticket to see the Pittsburgh Crawfords play would represent 1% to just over 2% of a man's weekly income.
