More than 4,000 children, teens and adults helped Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh kick off the official start of summer reading on Sunday, June 7. Celebrating its ninth year, Carnegie Library's Summer Reading Extravaganza continue to offer free activities and entertainment for all ages, and encourages every family member to register for a summer reading program.

Families attending the Library's Extravaganza experienced more than 100 activities from community partners that ranged from learning to dance the Samba to creating balloon art. Extravaganza participants and volunteers picked up their free kazoo at the Verizon Internet Safety Tent and met children's librarian Patte Kelley for an impromptu all-county kazoo concert.

Mark your calendars for the 2010 Summer Reading Extravaganza which will be held on June 6, 2010. The theme for the 2010 Summer Reading program will be Make a Splash @ Your Library!
