Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Brookline is approximately 2.4 miles from Downtown Pittsburgh. The library is located on Brookline Blvd. about 1/4 block from the fire station.

By Public Transit

Current schedules, fares and routes for public transit are available from the Port Authority of Allegheny County.

From Downtown:

  1. Board a 41D (Brookline) bus on Smithfield St.
  2. Get off the bus at Castlegate Ave. in front of the fire station.

From Oakland:

  1. Board a 61A (East Pittsburgh-Wilkinsburg), 61B (Braddock-Swissvale), or 61C (McKeesport-Homestead) bus on Forbes Ave. at South Dithridge St.
  2. Get off the bus in Downtown Pittsburgh at Forbes Ave. and Smithfield St. at Macy's Department Store (formerly Kaufmann's).
  3. Board a 41D (Brookline) bus on Smithfield St.
  4. Get off the bus in Brookline at Castlegate Ave. in front of the fire station.

By Automobile

NOTE: Metered parking is available on the street.

From Downtown:

  1. Take the Liberty Bridge through the Liberty Tunnels, staying in the left lane of the tunnels.
  2. Exit the tunnerls onto West Liberty Ave (straight ahead).
  3. Proceed up West Liberty Ave. to the intersection of West Liberty and Brookline Blvd. (There is a McDonalds on the right.)
  4. Bear left onto Brookline Blvd.
  5. Continue on Brookline Blvd to the library.

From Oakland:

  1. Drive west on Fifth Ave. toward Downtown Pittsburgh to Craft Ave.
  2. Turn left onto Craft Ave. and at the second light turn right onto the Boulevard of the Allies.
  3. Stay in the left lane, taking the Blvd. ramp to the Liberty Bridge.
  4. Take the Liberty Bridge through the Liberty Tunnels, staying in the left lane of the tunnels.
  5. Exit the tunnerls onto West Liberty Ave (straight ahead).
  6. Proceed up West Liberty Ave. to the intersection of West Liberty and Brookline Blvd. (There is a McDonalds on the right.)
  7. Bear left onto Brookline Blvd.
  8. Continue on Brookline Blvd to the library.

From the South Hills:

  1. Take West Liberty Ave. toward Downtown Pittsburgh to Pioneer Ave.
  2. Turn right onto Pioneer Ave. and proceed to Brookline Blvd.
  3. Turn right onto Brookline Blvd.
