Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Hazelwood is approximately 3.6 miles east of Downtown Pittsburgh. The library is located on the corner of Second Avenue and Flowers Avenue.
By Public Transit
Current schedules, fares and routes for public transit are available from the Port Authority of Allegheny County.
From Downtown:
- Board a 56B (East Pittsburgh-Homestead) or 56C (McKeesport-Lincoln Place) bus on Fifth Ave.
- Get off the bus at Second Avenue and Flowers Avenue.
- The library is located on the corner of Second Avenue and Flowers Avenue.
From Oakland:
- Board a 56U (Oakland/Greenfield; Hazelwood via Greenfield) bus on Forbes Avenue.
- Get off the bus at Second Avenue and Flowers Avenue in Hazelwood.
- The library is located on the corner of Second Avenue and Flowers Avenue.
By Automobile
NOTE: Street and lot parking are available
From the Parkway East (I-376)
- Take the Squirrel Hill Exit.
- Follow signs towards Homestead. You will be on Beechwood Blvd.
- At the light at the top of the hill turn right onto Hazelwood Avenue.
- Proceed to the very end of Hazelwood Avenue
- Turn left onto Second Avenue.
- Proceed one block to traffic light at Flowers Avenue and Second Avenue. The library is located on the left.
From Downtown
- From Grant Street, turn left (east) onto Second Avenue.
- Continue on Second Avenue past Bates Street
- Take the far right lane under railroad trestle and proceed right on Irvine/Second Ave (PA 885).
- The fourth traffic light is Second Avenue and Flowers Avenue. The library is located on the left.
From Oakland:
- Drive east on Forbes Ave. to Squirrel Hill and turn right onto Murray Ave.
- Proceed on Murray Ave. over the Parkway East and turn right onto Hazelwood Ave.
- Proceed to the very end of Hazelwood Avenue.
- Turn left onto Second Avenue.
- Proceed one block to traffic light at Flowers Avenue and Second Avenue. The library is located on the left.
