Main Room / New & Featured Area

Main Room Take note of the large green-tinted glass panels that are located throughout the space. The panels serve as translucent walls that help customers make connections to other parts of the library and feature intriguing contentůstop in and see if you can spot Andrew Carnegie's eyes or the Smithfield Street Bridge. You will notice more and more with each visit. Image topics include art, music, science, nature, local interest, travel, literature, medicine, health, and people. These images mean something, they're complex, and they reveal all that's available in your library. Also, notice the Library of Congress Subject Headings and Call Numbers interspersed throughout the glass panels.

Other predominant features of this room are the large multi-media display beacons located above each information desk, and in and along glass panels. This dynamic and flexible signage system allows for customers to make new and unplanned connections as interesting facts, images, quotations, and library events, services, and resources are shown.

Collections located within the New & Featured area include Bestsellers, topical displays, staff picks, new fiction, new & featured nonfiction, world fiction, travel, cookbooks, and paperback novels organized by genre.

Service Desks are well marked and identifiable. Ask a Librarian for expert, friendly help. Staff is dedicated to serving you, and we hope that you'll make the Library a regular destination.
