Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Mt. Washington is approximately 1 mile south of Downtown Pittsburgh. The library is located on Grandview Ave. between Bertha St. and Kearsarge St.

By Public Transit

Schedules, fares and routes for public transit are available from Port Authority of Allegheny County.

From Downtown: via Bus

1. Board a 41E Mount Washington bus on Smithfield St.
2. The bus travels across the Smithfield St. Bridge through the transit tunnel to the South Hills Junction.
3. Leave the bus at the intersection of Merrimac St. and Grandview Ave. before the bus turns left.
4. Walk down Grandview Ave. to the right, crossing Bertha St.
5. The library will be on the right directly across the street from an overlook.

From Downtown: via T Subway & Monongahela Incline

1. Board the T from outbound platform of Gateway Center Station, Wood Street Station or Steel Plaza Station.
2. Leave T at Station Square Platform.
3. Walk ahead on Carson St. to Monongahela Incline Lower Station building.
4. Take the Incline up to the top of Mt. Washington
5. Leave the Monongahela Incline, turn right, and walk along Grandview Ave. 3 blocks to the library.

By Automobile

Street parking is available.

From Downtown:

1. Cross the Liberty Bridge, and turn right onto McArdle Roadway at the end of the bridge.
2. Proceed on McArdle Roadway and at the top of the hill, turn left onto Grandview Ave.
3. The library is on the right, 2 blocks from the intersection.

From Oakland:

1. Follow the Blvd. of the Allies out of Oakland. Follow the ramp to the Liberty Bridge.
2. Cross the Liberty Bridge and turn right onto McArdle Roadway. DO NOT go through the tunnel.
3. Proceed on McArdle Roadway and at the top of the hill, turn left onto Grandview Ave.
4. The library is on the right, 2 blocks from the intersection.

from the South:

1. Drive north on West Liberty Ave., and turn left onto Route 51 [Saw Mill Run Blvd.] at the Liberty Tunnel.
2. Continue on Route 51 [Saw Mill Run Blvd.] to Woodruff St., and turn right onto Woodruff St.
3. Proceed on Woodruff St., and bear left to Merrimac St.
4. Proceed on Merrimac St. to Grandview Ave., and turn right onto Grandview Ave.
5. The library is on the right, 2 blocks from the intersection.
