Library Tales for Little Ones

Libraries are wonderful places to visit with children. For little ones, they can be exciting and delightful, but sometimes a bit overwhelming. When entering a library, toddlers might exclaim with surprise or struggle to hop out of their strollers, eager to explore. Others run full speed ahead to the play area, while some cling to their parents, uncertain about the unfamiliar place they’ve entered.  With the opening of our newly renovated Knoxville location, we are hoping that children will find that it’s a place where they’ll feel comfortable.  This is a bright new space that offers plenty of great books, audiovisual materials and play opportunities with a fabulous area designed to engage imaginations and inspire learning.

If you have a young child that you bring to the library, you might want to read to them about the experience either before or after visiting. Here are some wonderful books about libraries for curious little ones.  One describes how a library is built and why, another is a fanciful tale of what happens when animals come to the library after midnight and there’s even a book about a bear who loves pickle stories! Another great choice features a favorite educational television character who learns about the library in his neighborhood by attending a special story time. Stop in and see us soon to find these books and lots of other library tales at the new Knoxville Library or any of our other locations.
