In the book Rules, an autisitic boy named David struggles to be obediant. With the help of his sister, David learns new rules that are recorded in a big book of rules. However, David's behavior often interferes with his sister's friends, and she wonders if her new neighbor will ever become her best friend. When her new neighbor asks her to a dance to which she must bring a boy, she is embarrassed to admitt the only boy she knows is a handicapped boy who can't talk. Will she ever make a true friend?
