Camp Deer Creek
For students finishing 6th through 8th grade, Camp Deer Creek is a day camp that offers traditional camp activities such as swimming, horseback riding, archery, music, drama, nature hikes, and arts and crafts. A "residence week" is also available.

Camp Judson
Camp Judson offers a variety of summer camps for junior high and senior high students throughout the summer months. Activities at the main camps include bible study, faith-based activities, canoeing, rock climbing, swimming, archery, capture the flag, and more. Special camps are devoted to archaeology, visual and performing arts, outdoor skill-building and exploration, horseback riding, and leadership.

Summer Science Nation is a three-day workshop for high school girls who want to explore science career options in research, biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, and education. The program includes hands-on learning and field trips.

CMU: Andrew's LEAP
Offered by the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, Andrew's LEAP is a 7-week program for high school students to help them discover computer science possibilities. Participants learn from scientists, go on field trips, and work on their own engaging projects.

CMU: Pre-College Programs
These six-week-long programs hosted by Carnegie Mellon University offer students a unique opportunity to explore their interests and prepare for study at the college level. Programs are offered in architecture, art and design, drama, music, and gaming (via the National High School Game Academy). The programs are open to high school students from the ages of 16 to 18 who have completed their sophomore years.

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History offers a Youth Museum Institute for students ages 11 to 13. The weekly day camp sessions allow students to research topics of interest and create mini-exhibits or activities for the museum. Topics include biotechnology, paleontology, anthropology, forensic science, conservation, zoology, ecology, and botany.

Designed for middle school girls, Click! is an urban science adventure and spy school. Using awesome technology, students solve science mysteries on the North Shore. Two week-long sessions are available.

Chatham University Music and Arts Day Camp
This camp is for teens entering 7th through 9th grade in the fall and offers an intensive music and art experience, along with traditional camp activities. Classes available include instrumental and vocal music, creative writing, digital arts, musical theater, drama, and 2-D and 3-D arts.

CitiParks: Survival Camp
Hosted by the Frick Environmental Center, this weeklong day camp teaches basic wilderness survival skills to students who have completed sixth and seventh grades. Instructors guide teams of campers to build skills such as shelter and fire-building, orienteering and map reading, and first aid. The camp includes one overnight activity.

Creek Camp
Hosted by Creek Connections at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, Creek Camp is a residential environmental science camp for rising 10th and 11th graders that holds two week-long sessions in July. While living in college dorms, campers explore the outdoors, observe wildlife, and study freshwater ecology.

Chess Camp
Run by chess master Jerry Meyers, the Squirrel Hill and Fox Chapel weeklong chess camps are an opportunity for teens to learn about chess and build their skills in a fun and informative setting. Camps are divided by skill level, and teens are offered a chance to compete against others and learn new techniques.

Located on the campus of Grier Boarding School in the Allegheny mountains, Grier Summer Camps offer girls ages 7 to 17 the opportunity to participate in horseback riding, visual arts, performing arts, or a combination of these activities. Camp options range from 2 to 5 weeks in length, depending on the program; all camps are residential.

I Want to Be an Ambassador Camp
Open to rising 8th through 12th graders, this week-long program helps students build the skills to represent themselves well and work together to solve critical issues. They will learn more about the world and develop problem-solving skills through dynamic discussions, activities, and field trips.

Labratz Science Club Summer Camp
For students entering grades 5 through 8, this summer camp offers several week-long sessions, with half-day or full-day options. There is also the choice of a biology-based program or a physics-based program. Students will explore the aspects of each scientific field and contribute to fun projects.

MCG Youth's Summer Studios Intensive

This five-week-long studio experience is open to Pittsburgh teens from ages 13 to 18. During the month of July, students can experiment and build skills in their choice of ceramics, photography, digital arts, or design arts. Rising high school juniors, seniors, and recent graduates even have the opportunity to earn college credit through a dual enrollment partnership with the Community College of Allegheny College.

This single-day camp at the National Aviary gives teens a chance a explore what it's like to care for and feed birds on a daily basis. Teens will work with the animals and staff at the National Aviary to build their knowledge.

The PCA School offers a variety of art classes and workshops for teens 14-17 in fine arts, media arts, photography and filmmaking.

Pittsburgh Filmmakers High School Student Workshops
Four-week workshops (with classes held twice a week) are offered for 14-to-18-year-olds who have completed 9th grade by the Pittsburgh Filmmakers. Held during the month of July, the workshops are offered in various media and arts subjects, such as digital video, acting for the screen, filmmaking, black and white photography, digital video/film editing, and screenwriting.

Pittsburgh Glass Center Teen Boot Camp
For teens ages 14 and up, this intensive one-week program introduces students to the history and creation of glass art. Students will gain hands-on experience in blowing, sculpting, fusing, grinding, and polishing.

Pittsburgh Pro High School Baseball Camp
For teens ages 12 to 18, this week-long baseball camp helps players train daily. Participants take part in baseball drills, receive instruction and assessment from coaches, and play games.

The Summer Dreamers Academy is a free, premier camp launched by the Pittsburgh Public Schools in July 2010 to engage students grades K-8 in learning and fun during the summer months.

This weeklong summer camp focuses on the regenerative properties of human tissue and allows students to explore scientific technologies, experimental strategies, and ethical considerations of an increasingly relevant biomedical topic through a variety of team activities and simulations. Two sessions of the camp are offered, one for high school students and one for middle school students.

For one week, musicians ages 6-18 can make music in a stimulating environment. Includes chorus, strings, handbells, art, band, jazz dance, piano, drama, introduction to organ, composition, and teen ensemble.

Steel City Rowing Camp
Steel City Rowing Club offers two sessions of summer rowing camps for students up to age 18. There is both a competitive option and a recreational option based on students' existing skill levels and desires.

Sewickley Academy Summer Camps
Day camps at Sewickley Academy are offered for students in grades 6-9 and 10-12, and they include academics, the arts, and sports. Options include essay writing, math, English, Latin, SAT prep, drawing and painting, pottery, lacrosse, and soccer, among others.

Silver Eye Digital Photography Camp for Teens
Offered by the Silver Eye Center for Photography, this camp is for teens ages 13 to 17 with weeklong sessions offered in June and July. Students will explore the artistic and creative side of photography while also learning about important camera features and functions. Teens will have the opportunity to try what they learn on photo walks at various Pittsburgh locations.

This intensive, one-day workshop open to students in 8th through 12th grades will help teens hone their writing skills and turn their observations into polished pieces. Students will learn how to take their thoughts and opinions and turn them into the written word.

Watson Institute: Camp STAT
The Summer Therapeutic Activities for Teens (STAT) program is for teens with Asperger's syndrome and high-functioning autism. The program helps these teens to develop social competencies through therapeutic and recreational forms. Two summer sessions of four weeks each are offered to eligible participants from 13 to 21 years of age.

University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy
Formerly the Pennsylvania Governor's School for Health Care, this is a four week program held in June and July for 110 students (sophomores or juniors) who are interested in learning more about health care and health care careers.

USA Professional Karate Summer Program
Offering karate and kickboxing classes for teens, USA Professional Karate has a special 6-week summer program of classes. Kickboxing can be taken for self-defense or aerobic fitness.
