Brittany’s life seems to be perfect. She has the starting quarterback as her boyfriend, she has a huge house, a nice car, and nice clothes. She’s the most popular girl at her school. But, on the first day of school her senior year, she almost crashes into Alex Fuentos, literally. After the scare of her life, she finds out she has to be chem partners with Alex, the boy in a gang, a Southsider, for the rest of the year!
Alex starts to flirt with Brittany, but Brittany just ignores him. The more Alex talks to her and breaks down more and more barriers, he truly starts to fall for her. And he isn’t the only one falling. Brittany starts to think about Alex ALL THE TIME and starts to realize all the reasons why her and her boyfriend are wrong for each other.
Alex starts to see the real Brittany; the one with a mentally challenged sister, the one with horrible parents, and the one with only a single true friend. He realizes that she puts up a front just like he does. Alex, the tough, bad guy that doesn’t care about college or grades. When in reality, it’s the complete opposite.
They both sacrifice a lot to be together. Brittany had to break up with her boyfriend and shed her “perfect” facade. And Alex has to watch himself when he’s with Brittany, because it’s likely he’ll get jumped. Alex and Brittany have an undeniable connection; they have “chemistry”.
As the relationship becomes more intense, a lot of things get in the way. Not a lot of people believe in the two’s relationship because it’s something different. They might look different on the outside, but on the inside, they’re so alike.
But when things get dangerous on Alex’s part, what will happen to their relationship?
