Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan
Mission
To Engage our Community in Literacy and Learning
Vision Statement
Through Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the people of our region will develop the literacies and connections that support individual achievement and strengthen the power of community.
Strategic Plan
Throughout 2017, our community engaged with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) to help prepare a strategic plan that will guide the Library over the next five years (2018-2022). Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh has used this strategic planning process to develop a dynamic roadmap for creating positive change – change for individuals, change for our community and change for our Library. CLP’s board and staff, library users, community partners, and colleagues from other libraries throughout Allegheny County identified customer and community needs that will help us prioritize our work to ensure excellent library services for all and outcomes that are responsive to our community.
Where the previous plan sought to implement the necessary infrastructure to become more responsive to community needs, the 2018-2022 strategic plan was developed with a deep commitment to be more explicitly patron and community-focused. Under the 2018-2022 plan, the interconnectedness of our work, without regard to where and how people encounter Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, has become increasingly clear. This plan builds on the efforts begun in 2013 to evolve the library experiences provided within our facilities, in our communities and virtually while addressing several key themes identified by our community as priorities for the Library.
