Sue has more than 30 years of public accounting and industry expertise in tax matters affecting not-for-profit organizations and higher education institutions. As Chair of the Tax Department, she is responsible for directing the firm’s tax initiatives internally and in developing products and services for the Pittsburgh and Columbus tax practices. Sue is an experienced tax and business advisor with experience in both internal and external settings, providing clients with timely, innovative and high-quality advice on a broad array of compliance, planning, regulatory and business issues. Her clients include colleges, universities, secondary educational organizations, arts and cultural organizations, religious organizations, business and professional associations and private foundations.

Sue’s experience includes representing clients in connection with audit representation, obtaining recognition of tax-exempt status, foreign information reporting, governance and operating issues, technical advice on matters such as public charity/private foundation qualification, intermediate sanctions, lobbying, political activities, unrelated business income, executive compensation and fringe benefits as well as Form 990/990-T compliance.

Sue instructs the firm’s personnel and clients with respect to tax issues affecting not-for-profit organizations and she is a frequent speaker on the taxation of exempt organizations.
