The Library’s Teen Media Awards recognize writing, art and other creative work of young people across Allegheny County

Pittsburgh, PA  –   –

Starting on Monday, March 14, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) will begin accepting submissions for its 2022 Teen Media Awards, which serve as a platform for celebrating teens through a variety of mediums in writing and art.

Monetary prizes will be awarded for first ($250) and second ($100) place entries in each category: Prose, Poetry, 2D Art & Design, 3D Art & Design, Filmmaking, Fashion, Invention, Music & Audio Recording, and Photography.

“Many young people feel that they’re not given the space to share their voices and ideas,” said Kelly Rottmund, Coordinator or Teen Services, who will oversee the 2022 awards. “The Library provides an outlet for students to express themselves and share their talents outside of the classroom. The awards also connect creative teens to library programming where they can grow their skills. Each year the caliber of entries continues to amaze us. We are excited to see what projects our local teens have worked on this year.”

The Library’s Teen Media Awards are divided into two parts – The Ralph Munn Creative Writing Contest and The Labsy Awards.
