From Idea to Income

Carneige Library of Pittsburgh Presents Side Hustle Series

Pittsburgh, PA  –   –

According to a July 2017 CNN Money article, more than 44 million Americans have a side hustle, or work that is outside of their regular employment. Popular side hustles include selling handmade products online, ride-sharing, bartending, dog walking, freelancing, and consulting, but in reality, it is a way to turn a passion into extra income. Joining the gig economy is an increasingly popular way to make extra money or kick start a new career.

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s Side Hustle Series will explore the positives and drawbacks of four popular opportunities from speakers who have made their side hustles work for them.

“With more and more people looking for ways to boost their income, we want to provide information to area residents who are considering running some kind of ‘side hustle’ business but aren’t sure where to begin,” said Wes Roberts, Library Services Manager, Workforce and Economic Development at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. “Maybe someone wants to drive for Uber, but they’re unsure of how to start, or what the tax implications will be. This program series will bring together local people doing these types of jobs and running these types of businesses to provide information on how people can get started.”

Space for each session is limited. Participants are invited to register for one or all four sessions online at carnegielibrary.org. Childcare is available for all four sessions through Flexable child care services.
