Disability Pride Month 2025
During Disability Pride Month, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is committed to highlighting and celebrating the diverse experiences and contributions of individuals with disabilities.
Throughout July, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will amplify the identities of those with visible and invisible disabilities. We invite you to celebrate with us in person and online by exploring curated booklists, displays, events, resources and more for library users of all ages.

County & City Resources:
- Office of Developmental Supports (Allegheny County): Resources and support coordination for eligible residents with a variety of disabilities. Application assistance is available.
- Request a Disability Accommodation (Allegheny County): Request an accommodation to participate in a county service, program, or activity.
- Disability & Autism Supports: Connect (Allegheny County): Resources and links relevant to all ages and disabilities.
- Mental Health/Intellectual Disability Advisory Board (Allegheny County): Advisory board assisting in planning, development, and implementation of mental health and intellectual disability services and supports.

Other Local Resources:
- Adaptive Events: Offers listings for local adaptive sports and activities, including basketball, sled hockey, baseball, as well as playgrounds, summer camps, and more.
- Autism Caring Center: Provides resources, support, advocacy, and training. They host support groups and social and educational opportunities at their center as well as across the community.
- Autism Pittsburgh: Offers information and referrals to parents and professionals and connects people to local services. They also provide training to educate businesses and organizations about autism.
- Band Together Pittsburgh: Provides music-based programming, experiences, and vocational opportunities for those on the autism spectrum.
- Disability Pride Pennsylvania: Empowers self-advocacy and builds community through social events, celebrations, and more.
- In Toto Community Resource Center: Offers support groups, educational workshops, resource referrals, and more to individuals with increased risk of mental health struggles.
- Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians (LAMP): Offers a variety of accessible media types for reading disabled Pennsylvania residents, including print, audio and digital.
- PEAL Center: Helps families, youth, and young adults with disabilities understand their rights and provides resources and training for self-advocacy.
- Self Advocates United as 1: Builds community and empowers people with disabilities to advocate for themselves in their lives, community, and the state of Pennsylvania. They also have a state-wide resource listing here.
- Three Rivers Adaptive Sports: Offers a local network of various adaptive sports including bowling and water sports.
