Carrie Clark: The Namesake of Carrie Furnace

July 22 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Group of people sitting on a seminar. They have their hand raised.

Learn about Carrie Clark Arkell, the woman for whom the Carrie Blast Furnaces, built for the US Steel Homstead Works, were named. The furances stand today as a monument to Pittsburgh’s steel industry, but Carrie disappeared from the record for decades. Learn how she was rediscovered and who she was in this presentation by Dr. Kirstin L. Paine from Rivers of Steel.
