Gallery Reception – BOOM Concepts
“Collective Legacy” is an art exhibition presented by BOOM Concepts currently on display at The Gallery at Main, a project of the Carnegie Library Main Branch. Collective Legacy is a view of Pittsburgh’s Black art’s culture across generations. The show runs from December 2019 – January 2020, showcasing the diverse practices, experiences, and influences that have shaped 50+ years of the Black arts experience in Pittsburgh. “Collective Legacy” presents a diverse collection of visual artists, both native and transplants to Pittsburgh. “Collective Legacy” explores the various practices based in Pittsburgh and requests each artist to present a piece that best represents their work. The show presents a wide range of expressions, from mixed media paintings to sculptures and classic photography. All of these artists bring a different style and are uniquely connected through the power of the three rivers. “Collective Legacy” features the work of Bekezela Mguni, Ashanté Josey, Liana Martina Maneese, Norman Brown, Alisha Wormsley, Takara Canty, Ricardo Iamurri Robinson, Amber Epps, Jordan Taylor, Camerin “Camo” Nesbit, DS Kinsel, Njaimeh Njie and Carl “Dingbat” Smith
Light refreshments will be served. Special thank you to the staff of CLP Main and the Black Unicorn Library and Archives Project for supporting this project.
