Genealogy Day

February 18 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free
Genealogy family history theme with old family photos and documents.
Join genealogy societies and libraries from Western Pennsylvania for help with your research and information about their collections. CLP & Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society have planned workshops for beginners and experts alike. No registration is required to attend talks and meet with genealogy societies.

Speakers for the day are:

  • 1:30 pm “Finding Your Civil War Ancestors” with Diane Klinefelter
  • 3:00 pm “What Cemetery Records Can (and Can’t) Do” with Jennie Benford

Exhibitors include Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society; Detre Library & Archives from the Heinz History Center; North Hills Genealogists; Pittsburgh Chapter, National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution; Society of Mayflower Descendants in Pennsylvania; Jewish Genealogy Society of Pittsburgh; Westmoreland County Historical Society; and Davis * Camp, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

There will also be limited availability for Brick Wall Sessions. Brick Wall Sessions give you one-on-one help from a volunteer from a local genealogical society. These sessions are not for finding living relatives, but they can help with breaking through a brick wall several generations back. Please register below, and we will be in touch with your appointment time.
