Book Discussions

Rainbow Reading Group: An LGBTQIA+ Book Discussion Group

Main (Oakland)

Join us to discuss contemporary and classic LGBTQIA+ fiction and nonfiction.

Discussions are free and open to the public. No registration is necessary. We usually have copies of the current month’s book available for you to check out at the Ask a Librarian desk on the First Floor.

Discussions are held in the Director’s Conference Room on the First Floor of the Main Library on the fourth Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. This book group meets every month, except for November and December.

June’s book selection is Boy Erased: A Memoir of Identity, Faith, and Family by Garrard Conley – A survivor of a church-supported sexual orientation conversion therapy facility that claimed to “cure” homosexuality describes its institutionalized, intense Bible study program and the daily threats of his abandonment by family, friends, and God.

Please join us for a showing of the movie, Boy Erased, on Saturday, June 29th at 2 pm in Classroom A!
