
Summer Reading Kickoff with Mad Science and Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s Flights of Imagination Summer Reading kickoff is soaring to new heights! It’s like a rocket blast of books, a hot air balloon of creativity, and a flock of reading pterodactyls majestically gliding through stories. Whether you’re soaring into magical worlds or flying through galaxies, there’s no limit to where your imagination can take you. Buckle up—this summer’s about to take flight!
Mad Science will present Up, Up and Away from 1:00 – 2:00pm
This program will explore the role that wind and the movement of air plays on simple flying devices such as kites, hot air balloons and parachutes. Children will experiment with solar bags, and parachutes and build their own kites during this hands-on look at early flight. For grades K – 5.
Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse will present DIY Recycled Material Kite-Making Workshop from 2:00 – 3:00pm
Flex your creativity and resourcefulness with Creative Reuse! Explore an array of unique reused materials and learn how to create beautiful works of art, craft projects, and anything you can dream up while saving useful materials from the landfill. For teens.
