Teen Time: Frida Kahlo Surrealist Self Portraits

July 1 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

A young woman draws with paints with a brush, close-up.

Throughout July, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will amplify the identities of those with visible and invisible disabilities. Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist who had spina bifida, polio, and suffered near fatal injuries in a bus crash when she was a teen. Her disabilities greatly shaped the art she created. Teens will create surrealist portraits in the same style as Frida Kahlo, channeling her spirit and her dedication to disability visibility through art.

This event is part of our Disability Pride Month 2025 programming.
