The Pittsburgh Photographic Library & Historic Pittsburgh

May 28 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Hybrid Hybrid Event
Free
Old family photos and other documents on a table.

The Local & Family History Department has thousands of pictures of old Pittsburgh in its collections, mostly coming from the Pittsburgh Photographic Library (PPL). The PPL Collection has 18,000 images of Pittsburgh in the 1950s, featuring neighborhoods like the Hill District, construction projects like the building of Point State Park, and street scenes of people and businesses in a bustling down town midcentury Pittsburgh. Come learn about the origins of this collection and recent library efforts to digitize and publish the collection online so you can access it outside of library walls.
