The Sunday Afternoon Music Series Presents Danny Rectenwald
Danny Rectenwald has earned local and national acclaim for his work as a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. He has won numerous awards for his musicianship, most notably for guitar competitions at East Carolina University, Music Academy of North Carolina, and the Society of American Musicians. He was mentored by Venezuelan classical guitarist Daniél Marchan, and has gone on to study with some of the greatest classical guitar performers and pedagogues, including Jason Vieaux, Aaron Shearer, SoloDuo, Beijing Guitar Duo, Andrew Zohn, Denis Azabagic, Zoran Dukić, and Ana Vidovic.
Danny holds a Bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University and Master of Music degree in classical guitar performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied with Grammy-winning guitarist Jason Vieaux. Danny recently released Samadhi (Misra Records), an album of meditative solo guitar. Additionally, he stays busy playing steel-string and electric guitar and mandolin in various bluegrass, country, rock, and Celtic bands.
