October 4, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Virtual Event Virtual Event
Several children sit on the floor of a classroom watching a librarian via video call.

This session is an interactive introduction to the importance of racial representation in children’s literature. We will share research around positive racial identity development from the University of Pittsburgh, along with the latest in children’s publishing statistics and trends. We will discuss common and often harmful misrepresentation and learn about ways to find and select books published for children that can encourage positive racial identity development for children of color. This virtual workshop will be hosted on Zoom. Attendees will receive 1 hour of PQAS credit.
