World Kaleidoscope Presents the Grecian Odyssey Dancers
The Grecian Odyssey Dancers of the Presentation of Christ (Ypapanti) Greek Orthodox Church of East Pittsburgh, PA performed for the first time in 1981 at the Pittsburgh Folk Festival in the Civic Arena. Mary Doreza has directed the Greek folk dancing group for more than 1200 audiences since that time.
The group is comprised of young Greek-Americans who enjoy their Hellenic culture by sharing 25 Greek regional and island dances with others. The men and women wear with pride six sets of native costumes from different parts of Greece. They annually attend Greek Folk Dance Workshops to add to their repertoire.
Most of their performances are at Greek festivals, academic institutions, and international events throughout the tri-state area of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. They have also performed in Florida and Michigan, as well as before ten audiences during their three performance tours of Greece.
