BLAST

Bringing Libraries and Schools Together

BLAST (Bringing Libraries and Schools Together) supports educators working with children birth to 5th grade by visiting classrooms to offer interactive, literacy-enriched activities that nurture reading interest and development, supplement classroom lessons and provide equitable access to public library resources.

There are two components of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s BLAST program. School-Age BLAST works in partnership with Pittsburgh Public Schools to provide literacy-based programming to children in kindergarten through 5th grade. Early Learning BLAST works with educators to help develop early literacy skills for children aged 0-5.
