The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh believes that our community’s history and culture is important and worth preserving!  The library’s newly created REcollection Studio is our commitment to preserve your diverse voices, knowledge, and history and share your memories with family and friends.

The Do-It-Yourself public digitization studio on the 3rd floor of CLP-Main provides specialized hardware and software to transfer analog material into digital formats. By using the lab, you can learn to use and apply new technology to preserve your family photos, videos, or audio cassettes.

Do you have items you’d like to digitize?  You can make an appointment through the studio’s webpage. Each appointment is two and a half hours to allow for scanning your multitudes of slides or the real-time transfer of audio and video materials.  Check the list of materials we support and then bring your materials to the studio along with a storage device (such as a flash drive.) Once you are at the studio, you can follow our step-by-step instructions to use the equipment.  Is it your first time digitizing? No problem, there will be someone on hand to help you through the process.

Join us for the grand opening of the REcollection Studio during the Historic Pittsburgh Fair at CLP- Main on November 4th, 2017 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.! Right now the studio is open two appointment times per week, but we plan to expand our hours starting in November.

CLP’s REcollection Studio is ready for you!
