This series is about the life and journey of Ayla, a Cro-Magnon girl who is orphaned and injured by a close call with a cave lion. She is found nearly dead by a Clan of Neanderthal people, traveling to find a new home. The Clan’s cave had been destroyed by the same earthquake that took her parents. Ayla is soon adopted by their medicine woman, Iza, who teaches Ayla the ways of the Clan and how to become a medicine woman. Ayla brings the clan great luck and opportunities, but her physical and social differences cause rifts and adversity between her and the clan. The author completed all her research for this series at her public library!
