Between the World and Me – a testament of love

Writer and father, Ta-Nehisi Coates, expresses his love and deep concern for his teenage son in this recent book, Between the World and Me. A poignant and timely missive on the struggles of black men in today’s America, Coates provides his son with the history of his struggles growing up in the urban and gang-filled streets of Baltimore, MD during the latter part of the 20th century. Comparing his own experience of growing up on the tough streets,  his educational experience, and upbringing by  Civil Rights activist parents to the struggles of the young black male in today’s world, Coates provides his son with guidance and caution through his writing. A powerful statement on today’s American society as seen through the eyes of an African-American father.
