Lucky Strikes is the first young adult novel from author Louis Bayard, who’s also a professor of creative writing at George Washington University. Drawing on his experience writing historical fiction aimed at adults, Louis Bayard’s Depression-era Virginia setting provides a perfect access point for teens interested in fiction with a real historical backdrop. The book is fast paced and features an amazing heroine and a strong set of supporting characters. Lucky Strikes is a surprisingly emotional adventure, and a great read for older teen and high school readers.
