Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh looks forward to seeing you in your neighborhood, community and school! Read on to find out about our various library experiences and how to make a request.

 

Please note: These services are subject to staff availability and alignment with CLP’s mission and policies. We will do our best but cannot guarantee a visit from or to the Library. OUTSIDE THE LIBRARY EXPERIENCES

Library staff visit your organization to share information, books or present a program. Depending on your organization’s needs and the age group(s) you serve, there are a variety of services we can offer—subject to staff availability. Please review the available experiences menu below to submit a request.

 

  • Storytime

    WHO: Early Learners (ages 0-5) and their Caregivers  

    WHAT: Early Learners and their caregivers will explore action rhymes, songs and stories in this 20-30 minute program. Designed to strengthen early literacy skills and foster a love of reading.

  • CLP 101

    WHO:

    Caregivers of Early Learners (ages 0-5)
    School Age Children (grades K-5) and their Caregivers
    Teens (grades 6-12)
    Adults

    WHAT: What does the Library have to offer? Find out about our virtual and in-person services and how to access them.

    WHERE: virtual (all ages); in-person (teens and adults)

  • CLP 101+

    WHO:

    Caregivers of Early Learners (ages 0-5) 
    School Age Children (grades K-5) and their Caregivers 
    Teens (grades 6-12) 
    Adults

    WHAT: Find out about our virtual and in-person services and how to access them. Take a deeper dive into how to use the specific resources your group is interested in.

  • Pittsburgh Ready Literacy Workshops

    WHO: For Parents, Educators and Caregivers of Early Learners (ages 0-5)

    WHAT: Participants will learn practical strategies related to various topics impacting early literacy development. 1- and 2-hour versions of each course are available. Participants can receive PQAS credits if desired. Workshops include: 

    Every Child Ready to Read
    Finding Best Books for Babies
    Library 101: Resources that Support Early Learners & Their Adults
    Race, Reading and Young Children
    Sensory Strategies for Early Learners
    Using Digital Media Resources with Early Learners

  • Summer Reading Promotion

    WHO:

    Early Learners (ages 0-5) and their Caregivers
    School Age Children (grades K-5) and their Caregivers
    Teens (grades 6-12)
    Adults

    WHAT: Learn all about CLP’s Summer Reading program. Through Summer Reading you can log your books and earn chances to win a prize, all while reading what YOU choose!

  • Library Card Sign Up

    WHO:

    Early Learners (ages 0-5) and their Caregivers
    School Age Children (grades K-5) and their Caregivers
    Teens (grades 6-12)   

    WHAT: Talk to the Library about how your group can facilitate library card registration for youth and their caregivers and access unlimited library resources.  

    WHERE: virtual or in person

  • A Collection of Library Books for Use at Your Location

    WHO:

    Early Learners (ages 0-5) and their Caregivers
    School Age Children (grades K-5) and their Caregivers
    Teens (grades 6-12)
    Adults

    WHAT: Check out books on behalf of your organization and bring books to your group, class or organization. Connect to learn about requirements.

IN-LIBRARY EXPERIENCES

Your group comes to the Library for a tour, a program, or to use the Library’s resources. Depending on your needs and the age group(s) you serve, there are a variety of services we can offer—subject to staff availability. Please review the available experiences menu below to submit a request.

 

  • Browse and Check Out Books

    WHO:

    Early Learners (ages 0-5) and their Caregivers
    School Age Children (grades K-5) and their Caregivers
    Teens (grades 6-12)
    Adults  

    WHAT: Visit the Library and allow your group to check out materials on their library cards, or your organization’s Library card. (Connect with CLP for more information about using an organization card.)

  • Library Tour

    WHO:

    Early Learners (ages 0-5) and their Caregivers
    School Age Children (grades K-5) and their Caregivers
    Teens (grades 6-12)
    Adults  

    WHAT: Take a brief tour of your neighborhood library and learn how to access your favorite resources.  
    To tour CLPMain (Oakland), please complete a special request form.

    WHAT: Library Staff will attend your one-time event to host a table and share information about Library services. A quick, self-directed activity may also be provided at the table.
