Are you interested in connecting with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh to present a program? There are a number of ways that you can work with us. Please find the option below that best matches your interest.
Propose a Presentation or Workshop
Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh considers proposals from local organizations and individuals with missions, visions and/or goals that align with those of the Library. Program Presenter candidates must:
- Be able to provide the presentation free of charge to Library patrons and community members
- In some cases, CLP will pay a presenter honorarium
- Be located in Allegheny County. Preference is given to organizations and individuals located within the City of Pittsburgh
- Be capable of offering a minimum of three programs in CLP branches over the course of three months
- Have or be able to obtain PA State Police Criminal History Check and PA Child Abuse clearances if the prospective program is focused on children or teens
- Not implicitly or explicitly solicit attendees to sign up for a paid service, subscription or good and not present with the intent of promoting a paid service, subscription or good
We invite you to submit a proposal at any time, however proposals are reviewed once per season. If your proposal is accepted, you will be notified via the email included on your proposal form. Accepted programs are planned three to six months out. This means that a program accepted during the spring proposal review will be scheduled for summer or fall.
We appreciate your patience as we thoughtfully and thoroughly review program proposals. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of submissions we receive, we are not able to provide status updates or notify you if we determine we are unable to move forward with a program. If we are not able to move forward with your proposal for an upcoming season, we will keep it on file and will look for future opportunitites for which it may be a fit.
Fill out this form to propose a program. Please include as many details as possible.
Art Exhibition
Looking for a space to exhibit your work?
To propose an exhibition in the Gallery @ Main (Oakland), fill out an application.
Neighborhood libraries do not have dedicated spaces to exhibit artwork. However, we can sometimes host exhibitions in collaboration with community members. If you are interested in proposing an art exhibition at a neighborhood library, contact the location directly.
Author Talk or Reading
Interested in giving a lecture or reading at one of our locations?
The first step is to ensure that your book is part of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s collection. If your book is not part of our collection, please submit it for consideration to be added before filling out the Author application.
All submissions must follow the Author and Publisher Submission Guidelines.
If you are a self-published author, please review the Guidelines for Self-Published Materials in addition to the Author and Publisher Submission Guidelines.
It is important that we are able to provide access for patrons and community members to the books used in programming. For this reason, we are not able to consider Author Event applications for titles that are not part of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s collection.
Is one or more of your books in our collection already? Fill out the Author Events application to let us know more about the event you are proposing.
