LaShawnda has served as the Senior Director, Accounting and Financial Reporting at Carnegie Mellon University since May 2014 where she is responsible for the overall accounting and financial reporting for the university. LaShawnda served as the Director of Compliance and Internal Controls at Carnegie Mellon University from August 2013 to April 2014 where she was a leader in promoting, educating, and assisting with financial compliance and internal controls and assisted in overseeing policy and process audit functions for the Controller’s Office. Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon University, LaShawnda was a senior manager in the audit practice at KPMG LLP with more than 13 years of experience providing professional services to companies in a variety of industries, including a 3 year appointment to KPMG’s National Office.
LaShawnda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Duquesne University. She is also a licensed CPA in Pennsylvania and a member of the National Association of Black Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
LaShawnda serves on the Board of Directors of Mount Ararat Community Activity Center and East End Cooperative Ministries. She also participates as a member of the United Way’s Be a Middle School Mentor Advisory Committee and Pittsburgh Public School Occupational Advisory Committee for the Finance Program.
