LaShawnda joined Mendes Consulting LLC in November 2017 as a consultant where she assists organizations by providing a variety of value-added services including providing solutions to complex financial challenges, increasing management’s financial knowledge, improving processes, and identifying operational efficiencies.

Prior to joining Mendes Consulting LLC, LaShawnda spent four years with Carnegie Mellon University where she served as the Senior Director, Accounting and Financial Reporting for approximately three years and the Director of Compliance and Internal Controls for approximately one year.

LaShawnda started her career at KPMG LLP where she was a senior manager in the audit practice with more than 13 years of experience providing professional services to companies in a variety of industries. LaShawnda’s time at KPMG LLP included a three-year appointment to KPMG’s National Office.

LaShawnda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Duquesne University. She is also a licensed CPA in Pennsylvania and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Black Accountants, and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

LaShawnda has over 10 years of board service experience. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and the Board of Directors of Pittsburgh CLO and the Will Allen Foundation.  LaShawnda is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh Class XXXII.
