Don’t ‘Think Spring,’ Think Summer and Summer Jobs!

On February 2, everyone’s favorite groundhog Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring.  Well, it’s now March, there’s new snow on the ground and everyone is still bundled up in puffer jackets and snow boots. Even though it seems like spring will never arrive, it’s time for teens to begin thinking ahead to summer and summer jobs.

The online application for Learn & Earn will open Monday, March 11 and close Friday, May 31, and you can get help completing it at the Library.

Learn & Earn is a six-week summer employment program for teens and young adults ages 14-21 in the Pittsburgh region. Participants can earn money, gain valuable work experience and develop soft skills to help them become college and career ready.

The online application can be found at www.jobs4summer.org. Young people can access computers and get assistance completing the application at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh – Main (Oakland) and all CLP neighborhood locations, as well as at other Application Support Centers located throughout the county.

Want to know more before you or your teen start the application?

Partner4Work has answers to all your Learn & Earn-related questions like, “What do I need to apply?”, “What type of job can I get?”, “How much will I get paid?” and “What are the dates I can work?”. You can find answers to these and other questions here.

So, start gathering those application documents and thinking about what type of work is interesting, because there are all types of jobs available!

Learn & Earn is made possible through a partnership between Allegheny County, the City of Pittsburgh and Partner4Work with support from location foundations.
