Gay Raccoon Art

Artist statement:

Using donated materials from friends, fans, and second-hand stores, I give new value to the broken and discarded. By not choosing my own materials my work is community based, and reflects the voices of the donors. My works call into question the consumptive nature used to assign worth, mirroring my own struggled as a queer person in a culture that often questions the worth of non-conforming individuals, challenging the boundaries of conformity.

Elements of my drag careers glamorous facade, and camp sensibility, gives my work its storied voice. Familiar elements offer the viewer a connection to their own experiences, yet challenge perceptions of worth, and understanding, when viewed through a queer expression.
