Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Labs Summer Skills Intensives workshops invite teens to build creative skills during their summer break!
Thank you for your interest in the 2020 Virtual Summer Skills Intensives at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh! Workshops are free, and each session is open to ten participants. Supplies will be provided by the Library.
Virtual Intensive #1 – Textiles 101
Monday, August 3 – Friday, August 7
In this Intensive, teens in grades 6 – 12 will be introduced to beginner-level hand sewing techniques and projects. Projects include fabric collage; stuffed plush or pillow; embroidered fabric collage; and a teen choice project.
Requirements:
- Device such as PC, laptop, smart phone or tablet with Internet access. If you do not have a device the Library has a small number of laptops available for checkout and may be able to lend you a device via your Library card.
- Permission from parent/guardian to receive and use materials which may contain items such as scissors, pins and other items requiring adult supervision depending on the participant.
Virtual Intensive #2 – Finding Your Artistic Style
Monday, August 10 – Friday, August 14
In this Intensive, teens in grades 6 – 12 will be introduced to a variety of artistic mediums and means of expression. Projects include sketchbooks; artist trading cards; portraits; and a teen choice project.
Requirements:
- Device such as PC, laptop, smart phone or tablet with Internet access. If you do not have a device the Library has a small number of laptops available for checkout and may be able to lend you a device via your Library card.
- Permission from parent/guardian to receive and use materials which may contain items such as scissors, permanent inks and pens; and other items requiring adult supervision depending on the participant.
Application for an Intensive does not guarantee acceptance. Applications will be reviewed by Library staff. City of Pittsburgh residents will receive priority in application process. You will be notified by Library staff of your acceptance who will communicate with you in order that you may receive Intensive supplies, procure a Library card if needed, and answer any question you may have.
