This is Your Library: Help Us Make It Even Better

The world can be cold and cruel. From bombing and fighting in Syria and Iraq to an uptick in hate crime in our own country to earthquakes in New Zealand and Japan, all you have to do is read headlines to feel uncertain about what the future could bring.

We haven’t figured out how to make everyone get along or prevent natural disasters yet, but here at the Library we have committed to offering a safe space for everyone in our community to the absolute best of our ability.

We do not care what your age, gender identity, race, creed, sexual orientation, employment status or disability status might be. You are always welcome here.

Do you need a place for your teenager to come after school? Send them here. Do you need a place to host a community meeting? We have spaces for that. Do you need a place to step out of the world for awhile and browse for your next favorite read? We can offer some suggestions. Do you need help with a job search? Come on in and grab a computer. Looking for news from reputable sources? Come in and read a newspaper. Want the newest box office hit? Check out the Bestseller DVD collection in your neighborhood location.

We do not care what your age, gender identity, race, creed, sexual orientation, employment status or disability status might be. You are always welcome here.

The Library offers all these things, and more, as part of our mission to engage our community in literacy and learning. The United States celebrated Thanksgiving last week, but we are always thankful to be able to serve you.

In fact, we could not do what we do without your help.

If you value the programs and resources we provide to Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, and if you are able, please consider making a donation today for Giving Tuesday, a socially-powered movement designed to kick-off the charitable season.

Any amount helps us present Storytimes, provide opportunities for teens to learn new technologies, buy books and movies and even pay our wonderful staff. You can even designate your gift for a specific location or program. Can’t donate, but still want to help? We’d love to have you as a volunteer.

Remember, this is your Library. You’re always welcome here.
