The Mystery Behind The Sister

While I was looking on Goodreads for books that would be coming out soon, I came across The Sister by Louise Jensen. This is Jensen’s debut novel, and it is excellent. The story takes place in London and the main character is Grace. The story alternates between Grace’s life in the past and in the present.

In the present time, it’s been almost a year since Grace’s best friend, Charlie, passed away. Naturally, Grace is having a hard time dealing with this loss. She’s trying to get back in the swing of things by going back to work as a preschool teacher at Little Acorns. Her relationships with her boyfriend, Dan, is pretty much crumbling.

The story starts off with Grace going on this mission to try and find Charlie’s father. Charlie had wanted to look for him when she was alive, but her mother, Lexie, wouldn’t allow it. After getting some information out of Lexie, Grace starts her research and through this research comes into contact with Anna, who is Charlie’s half sister. Grace is happy and feels like she’s found another connection to Charlie.

After awhile, Anna turns out not to be who she seems. It’s during this time that Grace’s life starts to downward spiral. Throughout the story readers see parallels between Grace’s life in the past and the present. In the past, someone is coming after Grace, and she has no idea who it is; and in the present bad things keep happening to Grace and she’s being followed.

There’s a lot of plot twists in this story. Every time I thought that I had everything figured out another curve ball came my way. I don’t want to give out any spoilers, but know that this is a definite page turner. If you’ve read and enjoyed The Girl on the Train I would recommend this book.

Happy reading!
