We’re Open with Expanded Evening and Weekend Hours

UPDATED June 14, 2021

We are excited to welcome you back inside our spaces!

At this time all CLP locations are operating under reduced building occupancy (75%). We are asking patrons to limit their visit to one per day.

Masks (covering the nose and mouth) are required for all staff and patrons when in library spaces. Curbside and virtual services are available for patrons who are more comfortable with contactless service.

If you or a member of your household have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, feel sick (even if your symptoms are mild), or have been exposed to COVID-19 within the past 14 days please reschedule your visit for a later date. We offer a variety of digital materials, resources and programming, including eBooks, music, movies and much more that you can access virtually 24/7.

In-Person Service: Now Open Sundays at Select Locations
(See below for hours)

Our doors are open for limited in-person service! Visit the Library to use a computer; access and check out materials; print, pick up and place holds; ask a librarian – Reference and Reader’s advisory; and apply for a library card.

Curbside service is also available for those who are more comfortable with a no-contact approach. You can still pick up holds, return materials, submit a print job or take advantage of our outdoor Wi-Fi.

Hours are subject to change based on circumstances outside of our control

Please note: The Pennsylvania Department (local history & genealogy) at CLP – Main is currently not open for in-person visits. A microfilm reader is available in the Reference Department, and visitors can request specific microfilmed newspapers or books to use during their visit.

Until the department reopens, please use the following tools to ask for assistance:

  • Staff can handle limited requests for local records and newspaper articles. Please click here to request a search.
  • Please email padept@carnegielibrary.org. This mailbox is checked regularly, but staff may not be able to respond immediately.
  • Please use the Chat feature (lower right-hand corner of the home page) to chat with a staff member. If they aren’t able to answer your question, it will be sent to a specialist for help.

Contactless Curbside & Walk-up Services

Subject to change based on circumstances outside of our control.

When your items are ready you will receive a notice via email, telephone or text. When you get this notice, please call your location to arrange a pick-up time.

If you have a fever or are not feeling well, please do not come to the Library to pick up your holds. Contact us to let us know you cannot make your pick-up time.

When you arrive at the Library:

  • Please plan to arrive during your prearranged pick-up window. Call the location to announce your arrival. You may be asked to verify a piece of personal information to determine identity.
  • We ask that you respect social distancing protocols and stand behind the line marked on the sidewalk. Staff are required to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing. We ask that you do the same when using curbside service.
  • Staff will retrieve your prepacked items and bring them right to you.
