Naturalization Records Request

Naturalization is the process by which an immigrant becomes a U.S. citizen. Not every immigrant naturalized, as it was not necessary for getting a job or owning property. Up through the early 20th century, women frequently did not naturalize on their own, but were typically granted citizenship if their husbands went through the process.

CLP holds copies of naturalization records from local & county courts prior to 1906. We will check indexes based on the surname and estimated naturalization dates you provide.

For naturalizations that were completed after 1906, please contact the National Archives in Philadelphia. That branch holds the federal court records for Pennsylvania, and staff can search indexes and provide copies of records held in those court files.
