His Fair Assassin Series

Fantasy has been an extremely popular genre in young adult fiction over the past few years. To really stand out, a series has to have exceptional writing, interesting characters, or a unique premise. His Fair Assassin, a trilogy about a group of cutthroat nuns set in the 15th century, meets this criteria and even throws in some romance.

Ismae flees an abusive marriage and is taken in by the covenant of St. Mortain where she is trained as an assassin to serve the god of death. Here, she befriends Sybella and Annith, who were raised in the covenant. Each book is told from a different girls’ perspective, but each continues the story of the covenant’s race to save the country of Brittany from the clutches of France.
